Ski slope Saslong - Val Gardena

The internationally famous Saslong slope leads its way to Santa Cristina, in the picturesque heart of Val Gardena. Every December it hosts the Downhill World Cup race. It starts at Ciampinoi with a short slight slope that runs along the ridge of the mountain, offering stunning views before tackling the first steep section. Here the slope widens and becomes steeper, inviting skiers to enjoy the adrenaline.

In the first section, the slope stretches over a slope devoid of vegetation, while the Sassolungo dominates imposingly on the left. The second part enters a dense coniferous forest. After the first steep section, a longer and less demanding section opens up, which leads up to the start of the chairlift. This part follows the line of the chairlift, crossing it just before the finish. Gradually, trees and houses sprout, and the forest thickens as the track veers to the left. A series of exciting steep sections alternate between right and left turns, offering a spectacular view of the lower part of Val Gardena and the villages of Santa Cristina and Ortisei.

The entire route is equipped with artificial snow, is wide and separated from the forest by nets. However, during the day, the humps and ice sheets can increase due to the high number of skiers and the difficulty of the slope. It is therefore advisable to start the descent in the early hours of the morning. Continuing, the track curves to the left again, facing further steep sections until the last segment, which turns to the right. This final section is quite technical and narrow, inevitably causing slowdowns and some crowding. Finally, you arrive at your destination.

To get to the Saslong slope, take the Saslong gondola lift from Santa Cristina, followed by the Sochers - Ciampinoi six-seater covered chairlift, until you reach 2254 meters. The slope begins on the left of the arrival station of the chairlift.
