A night of sport and spectacle in the Dolomites
The 32nd edition of the Sellaronda Skimarathon returns to light up the Dolomites with one of the most fascinating and demanding ski mountaineering races in the world. The event, which takes place at night, attracts elite athletes and enthusiasts from all over the world every year to tackle the famous circuit of the four Dolomite passes: Sella, Gardena, Pordoi and Campolongo.
The route
The competition covers a route of approximately 42 kilometres with an elevation gain of over 2,700 metres. The athletes, in pairs, tackle steep climbs, technical descents and spectacular sections under the stars, crossing the renowned ski areas of Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Arabba and Val di Fassa.
An event steeped in tradition and passion
Established in 1995, the Sellaronda Skimarathon has become a symbol of international ski mountaineering. The unique atmosphere, the backdrop of the Dolomites (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the sporting challenge make this race an unmissable event for athletes and spectators alike.
Evening programme
- 6.00 pm: opening of the start area and team welcome
- 7.30 pm: technical briefing and official presentation
- 8.10 pm: race start from Selva di Val Gardena
- 11.00 pm: arrival of the first competitors and prize-giving ceremony
Useful information
The event is open to the public with designated areas for watching the start and finish. Warm clothing and head torches are recommended for those wishing to follow the race along the route.
